The Brazilian was stuck on the sidelines lately, much to his own grief.
Neymar has shown Paris Saint-Germain have been too reluctant to play with him in recent weeks, regardless of the attacker wanting to return to the pitch.
The 28-year-old was not picked for PSG’s previous three Ligue 1 matches because of injury and has been a doubt for Tuesday’s Champions League round of 16 clash against Borussia Dortmund at Germany.
Neymar did however start that game and despite himself scoring in the second half, could not help his side avoid a 2-1 first-leg conquer .
Having impressed on his return to action, the Brazilian announced that he’s been prepared to play for awhile but PSG have opted to keep him on the sidelines.
“It wasn’t my choice to not play the last games. I wanted to play with, I felt great,” Neymar said post-match.
“The club was fearful and it’s I who suffer with it.”
It has been an injury-interrupted season up to now for Neymar with a hamstring injury in October also watching him miss six games.
The Brazilian’s return to full fitness is nevertheless timely as PSG look to prevent another round of 16 exits from the Champions League.
Set to host Dortmund in Paris next month, Marquinhos has called on his side to grab the initiative in the next leg.
“I believe we still had possession of the ball in the first half but we were not too extreme and active in our match. We missed lots of balls,” he advised RMC Sport .
“They tried to counter the mistakes we made and that is where they hurt. We surrendered two goals on little details that made the difference using a striker [Haaland] who actually has a sense of aim; perhaps he isn’t too much in the game but the chunk arrives and he puts it in. But still we managed to score a goal, it is essential for the return game.
“By the return game we’ll work nicely for most of the players are in top shape and we could make a very major match. It will take a mindset of winners. They have the score and we must make a fantastic success at home, be competitive, solid behind since we know it is important not to have a target at home.
“These are the things which are apparent: more intensity, more aggressiveness in our counter-pressing since it was lacking now. It’s the small details which make the difference and it’s certain that we will do better because otherwise we won’t succeed.”
