Barcelona legend Rivaldo has reiterated his desire to see Neymar return to Camp Nou, with a fellow Brazilian regarded as a trusted solution for the present while mooted goal Lautaro Martinez is one for the future.
The reigning La Liga champions are thought to be in the process of piecing together recruitment plans for the next transfer window.
Efforts to reunite Neymar into Catalunya from Paris Saint-Germain have so far come to nothing, but interest remains and the problem will be addressed over the summer.
Rivaldo hopes an agreement can be reached that suits all parties, with Barca needing to dig deep to be able to find a deal over the line.
The Blaugrana icon told Betfair: “I have been saying for some time I think in Neymar.
“Maybe leaving Barcelona was an error for the Brazilian however, if there is any chance of getting him back for less than the $222m Barca paid for him, the club should grab the chance.
“At 28, he has a great deal of football to play with. He would be a fantastic signing for Barca because they would be getting someone who knows the club and that has the character to make the difference in matches.
“He would not be daunted by sharing the pitch with Lionel Messi and the Argentinian would like having him back on the team.”
Together with the Neymar rumours, it’s been suggested that Barca are keen on a different South American celebrity.
Speculation is building as it pertains to Lautaro’s future, together with the Argentine starring in Serie A with Inter.
Rivaldo is a huge fan of this 22-year-old but believes that he should only be targeted at a big-money deal when he’s got more experience under his belt.
He added:”Rumours say that Barcelona are contemplating trying to sign the youthful attacker Lautaro Martínez from Inter, but I believe that the 22-year-old should keep growing and gaining experience.
“He is a valuable player for Inter and might develop into a leading player in the long run, but he is not prepared for Barca.
“Barcelona should concentrate on bringing Neymar back, to reunite him with Messi and Luis Suarez from the catastrophic attack they had previously.
“They ought to make every fiscal effort to get Neymar since it sounds PSG are now more receptive to realistic offers.
“They should do everything needed to sign a player who is already proved his worth and would not be a risky signing.
“Neymar has already won the Champions League with Barcelona, has impressed at the Blaugrana shirt several times, and after apologising to the fans because of his sudden exit to PSG, I think everything will be fine. He could conquer the Camp Nou fans with his brilliant game.”
